Playtest feedback

Let testers report bugs from inside a Godot build, and read the reports in LoreOwl.

The feedback form is for Godot projects. Turn on Feedback form on the Builds tab and build.

What testers see

Testers press Ctrl+F in the game. The game pauses and a short form opens:

  • Type: bug, idea or feedback.
  • Severity: for bugs only, and optional.
  • What happened: up to 2,000 characters.
  • Name and contact: both optional.

Esc closes the form and Ctrl+Enter sends it. The tester sees whether the report was sent.

Each report also carries the build, the channel, the scene, the platform, the game version, the engine version and a random id for the install. There are no screenshots and no logs.

Open the form from your own button

The form is an autoload named LoreOwlFeedback.

func _on_report_pressed() -> void:
    LoreOwlFeedback.open()

func _ready() -> void:
    LoreOwlFeedback.submit_finished.connect(func(ok: bool): print("sent" if ok else "failed"))

It also has close(), is_open(), and the signals opened and closed. The shortcut is the input action loreowl_feedback.

Read the reports

Open Playtest in the project. Builds with feedback lists each build that has reports. Select a build to read its reports, newest first. Each report shows its context: platform, game version, engine, build, channel and scene.

You can also open a build's reports from History, with Playtest feedback in the build's menu.

Reports stay when you delete the build.

Limits

  • No status, assignee or reply. Use the contact the tester typed.
  • No screenshots or attachments.
  • Godot only.
