LoreOwl

Maya

Browse the vault, place assets in your Maya scene, and upload what you make.

Open it

Choose LoreOwl > LoreOwl Vault in Maya's main menu. A dock opens with a Vault tab and an Upload tab.

Vault tab

  • Filter by tag, sort, and select Load more.
  • Choose a folder in Place into, select assets, then select Place selected.
  • With Import after download on, LoreOwl imports FBX, OBJ, COLLADA, USD and Alembic files. Textures are downloaded and their path is shown.
  • Maya scene files (.ma, .mb) are imported only if you turn that on. A scene file can run scripts. Script nodes are always turned off on import.
  • Maya cannot open glTF, so .gltf and .glb files are downloaded, not imported.

Upload tab

  • Export selection and upload. Export the selection as FBX, OBJ, Alembic, COLLADA or USD, and upload it. With nothing selected, the whole scene is exported.
  • Upload this scene and its files. Upload the scene with the files it uses. Files the vault already has are linked, not uploaded again. Turn on Include files outside the scene's folder to send those too.

Install

  • Location: loreowl and loreowl.mod in Documents\maya\<version>\modules, or under MAYA_APP_DIR if you set it
  • Versions: Maya 2022 and later. Each Maya version keeps its own plug-ins, so install once per version.

After installing, restart Maya and choose LoreOwl > LoreOwl Vault.
